MEET OUR MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS

Dr. John Goad

Dr. John Goad was born and raised in South Williamson, Kentucky and spent his childhood in Pigeon Creek, WV. He graduated high school from Matewan and went to college at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. He went from the Thundering Herd to complete medical school as a Mountaineer at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV. He received both his general cardiology and interventional cardiology training at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. He has been in practice in Charleston, WV since 1993.

Dr. Goad is board certified in general cardiology, interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Intervention. He specializes in the treatment of coronary artery disease and in coronary intervention. He provides acute cardiac consultations at Charleston Area Medical Center on a referral basis.

Dr. James Pettit, II

James “Jerry” Pettit, II, was born in WV. He graduated from Nitro High School and went to medical school at West Virginia University. He specializes in internal medicine and the treatment of cardiovascular disease and is primarily office based. He has been in practice in Charleston WV for the last 30 years.

Dr. S. Shawn Groves

Dr. Samuel “Shawn” Groves was born in Ronceverte, WV and spent his childhood in the area. He graduated from Greenbrier East high school and went on to college at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV. He completed medical school at West Virginia University and went on to finish both his general cardiology and interventional cardiology in Morgantown, WV.

Dr. Groves is board certified in general cardiology and interventional cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. He specializes in the treatment of coronary artery disease and coronary interventions. Other skill sets include nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, and transesophageal echocardiography. He provides acute cardiac consultations on a referral basis at Charleston Area Medical Center.

Dr. Groves has been in practice in Charleston, West Virginia for the last 11 years.

Marsha Wiersteiner, APRN-BC

Marsha Wiersteiner APRN-BC was born in Charleston, West Virginia and raised in Mink Shoals, WV. She graduated high school from Charleston High School. She received her Associates Degree in Nursing from the University of Charleston in 2004. She went on to receive her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from West Virginia University in 2015. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in 2017 and is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Jennifer Westfall, APRN-BC

Jennifer Westfall APRN-BC was born in Charleston, West Virginia and was raised in the area. She is a graduate from George Washington High School. She received an associates degree in nursing from West Virginia University Institute of Technology in 1996. She went on to receive her bachelors of nursing from West Virginia University Institute of Technology in 2002, while working on the cardiac telemetry floor at Charleston Area Medical Center. She went on to receive her Masters of Science in Nursing from West Virginia University in 2005. She received a post masters certification as a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner in 2009. She is certified as both a family and geriatric nurse practitioner. She has worked with Dr. Goad for the last 17 years.
